Basic moving tips – Part 1

No matter what the reason is, moving can be a very stressful and time consuming event unless you plan it perfectly. It is surprising to see the amount of relief you can experience when the relocation process is planned in advance. However, realistic planning should be done with the assistance of experts. These two articles (Basic Moving Tips – Part 01 and 02) are creates with the ideas of professional moving experts for the reference of those who hardly have any relocation experience. Although these tips may sound like basic and obvious, it is interesting to see how these tips can simplify your relocating process.

Tip 01 – Disassemble your furniture

The very first tip of the series is that you should disassemble the furniture items. Most of the houses generally are equipped with furniture items like chairs, tables, desks, cupboards, summer huts and many others. Virtually all these items are fixed with screws allowing you to disassemble them in few easy steps. Unscrewing of these furniture items allows you to have moved them in a compact space. You can even put them in zip lock baggy after pulling apart. Once the disassembling process is finished you have to pack them correctly; add labels accordingly so that the reassembling part will be hassle-free.

However, it is important to remember that you shouldn’t try to disassemble heavy furniture items and complex items unless you are fully confident about it. Showcases and cabinets that contain glasses should be handled with very good care. Otherwise, you will end up either damaging the items or causing injuries to yourself.

Tip 02 – Donate Extra Stuff

This is another very simple (but highly useful) tip to remember when moving with your belongings. Although it cannot be notified at once, every household has many items that are no longer useful. These items include stuff like furniture, electric appliances, kitchenware, containers, closets, garden equipment, valuable cloths, books etc. Many people carelessly pack everything they find inside the house and end up with hefty load to move (which will ultimately cost a considerable amount). In fact, in certain cases, buying new items may be affordable than moving them into the new location. The best way to get rid of these items is by donating them. It is a good way to get rid of the items other than simply throwing them away.

If you have a considerable load of giveaways, you can ask a donation center representative to come and pick them up. So, it is a win-win situation for both the parties.

Tip 03 – Keep all the valuable documents with you

No matter how reliable and experienced your mover is, you should be smart enough to keep all the valuable documents with you. The last thing you need is to lose your invaluable documents during the move and find helpless. So, be sure to have your documents properly filed and ready; they don’t take much space.
